Pride, Ego, and the Solar Plexus Chakra
The Manipura chakra, also known as the solar plexus chakra, is the third chakra in the body. The solar plexus is located in the upper abdomen, around the area of the diaphragm. Manipura, meaning city of jewels, reflects the chakra's association with inner strength. Yellow and the element fire are associated with the Manipura chakra. The solar plexus is where your power, confidence, and self-esteem come from. When the solar plexus is balanced, a person is comfortable in their skin and has inner peace. They have a strong sense of self-worth and positively assert themselves. They take ownership of their lives and make decisions with confidence and clarity.
Blocked Solar Plexus Chakra
People with a weak or blocked solar plexus usually try to overcompensate with the confidence that they don't have. They are normally covering up that they have self-esteem issues and are very insecure. They fear appearing weak, and they don't associate love and partnerships with happiness. Relationships with them are often power struggles, so when they enter into future partnerships, they feel the need to control that person. They think that partnerships strip them of their power, which explains if dealing with a person like this you have witnessed either them being put into competition when it comes to relationships or they put people into competition for their love. Either way, it's some love triangle or third-party situation. They lack a sense of self-worth, so the high they receive of being chosen in a love triangle or being the winner temporarily boosts their lack of self-esteem, just for them to feel empty again.
A person with a blocked solar plexus is like dealing with a hungry ghost. They have no identity but are looking to feed off of someone else’s light. On top of that, they will constantly look for love outside of themselves to fill a void only they can heal from. The Solar Plexus is the chakra of personal power and identity. People with this issue can often be copycats, envious, jealous, fake, disingenuous, disrespectful, inauthentic, greedy, abusive, overstepping boundaries, lacking accountability, and full of pride and ego. These traits mentioned are the dark components of having an imbalanced chakra. A blocked solar plexus leads to a lack of direction as well. A person might struggle with indecision, fear of failure, or a tendency to give away their power to others. They often enter their connections playing mind games and manipulating because it's all about control and not trying to be authentic and connect genuinely with a person. The reason they result in these games is possibly out of trauma. They felt powerless as a child or in their current life, so to have power and to feel safe, they need to control things and others. They often wear masks and are addicted to their image when they have none. Physical symptoms of a weak solar plexus are digestive issues, fatigue, anxiety, arthritis, problems with the liver, stomach, pancreas, and gallbladder, and respiratory issues.
Social Media
By creating an environment where comparison, validation, and unrealistic standards are important, social media is often misused as a tool to increase the feeling of unworthiness in others. This is how social media increases weaknesses in the solar plexus chakra. This is why people encourage others to do a social media detox so the person needing healing can get centered within themselves. Everything you need is always within yourself, never outside of the self. When an already insecure person gets a hold of social media, they are clout chasing, or the clout chaser. On top of having no identity, the validation they receive doesn't help because it's not their authentic selves people are validating. This is where the identity issues begin and how social media assist people in maintaining their masks. The people validating the false identity are giving away their energy into an illusion.
How to Balance the Solar Plexus Chakra
Meditation - Taking deep breaths and guided meditations can help strengthen the solar plexus.
Yoga Poses - Yoga poses can be effective in stimulating the solar plexus. Poses such as the warrior and bow could help.
Nutrition - Eating yellow fruits and vegetables such as bananas and corn can help. Spices like ginger and turmeric are good for stimulating the digestive system and activating the solar plexus.
Crystals - Some crystals that can help balance this chakra is citrine, tiger’s eye, pyrite, and sunstone.
Detox - Try to detox from things that you feel that cause agitation within you like social media. Be mindful of what you’re putting in your body be it food or media. Try to take in only positive things.
True strength comes from within. It is not about controlling others or asserting dominance. It's about aligning with your true core identity and living in alignment with your true purpose. By aligning with who you are and not what people tell you, you can create a life that reflects authenticity.
